Strong presence in the market
Wieland receives two Delphi Supplier Awards
In May 2012, Delphi bought the automotive division from FCI - a long-standing major customer of the Rolled Products Division.
The acquisition further strengthens Delphi's position in Europe as a leading manufacturer in the connector industry.
Wieland was already in the past a supplier of Delphi's Neumarkt, Germany plant - also a long-term customer of our company.
Thanks to our intensive support in the acquisition phase and special deliveries at short notice, Wieland could improve its position at Delphi.
This formed the basis for a new supply contract.
All employees involved at Wieland are happy that Delphi's Purchasing Department has presented two annual supplier awards
to Wieland: the "Pinnacle Award" and the "Above and Beyond Award".
Almeta will become Metalix
After seven years of its very successful membership of the Wieland Group, Almeta Metallhandel AG, Bellach, Switzerland will change its name to Metalix Metallhandel AG with effect from October 1.
Basically, there are two main reasons for this step. Firstly, its membership of the Wieland Group is to be visible in the logo, even though the name Wieland is not included. Secondly, the services provided, such as the recycling of copper alloys, are to be clearly linked to the company's own name. Almeta Metallhandel AG has been repeatedly confused with Almeta Recycling AG at the same location. The latter does not belong to the Wieland Group and recycles more than 1,000 different substances, including paper and demolition rubble.
The name has been found with the aid of an agency. It contains the root "metal" and the last syllable of the Greek word "helix", which means "screw" or "spiral". This is an allusion to the machining of metal rods, Metalix’s main product.
Adjustment of fabrication prices as of 1 October 2013
In order to remain a reliable partner to our customers in the future, we are continuously investing in the qualification of our employees and the optimisation of our production technology. Programmes to increase the efficiency of processes are an integral part of our activities.
However, we are facing an increase in expenditure due to considerably higher energy- and labour costs which cannot be offset by the above-mentioned measures. We, therefore, have to raise the fabrication prices by at least 5 % as of 1 October 2013.

Increase of Metal Premium as of 15 July 2013
The Wieland Group ensures a reliable metal supply through long-term contracts with worldwide operating producers and traders. Due to difficult market conditions the premiums for the day-to-day business have increased significantly.
This situation requires us to raise the copper premium by US Dollar 40 per ton for additional quantities provided outside fixed annual agreements as of 15 July 2013.
