Travelling to the origins of the universe with copper
Under the motto “Collaborations for Your Excellence“ the Wieland Group as one of 37 companies will be presenting its innovative product and service portfolio at CERN in Meyrin, Switzerland, on 10 and 11 October 2017. The industrial fair is organised by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research together with CERN to strengthen existing collaborations and to make new partnerships possible.
The European Organisation for Nuclear Research tries to unravel the mysteries of the universe, for example with the CERN particle accelerator. By reconstructing the situation right after the Big Bang, scientists are researching the building blocks of matter and natural forces. For the superconductors at the core of this powerful machine, the Wieland Group uses copper-based high-tech fibres. In addition, components such as rods, sections and tubes, mainly of pure copper, are used in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world’s largest experimental facility built in a 27 km long tunnel between France and Switzerland at CERN.
As a global technology company, Wieland supports basic research in physics with its know-how in key technologies such as material science as well as forming and joining technology.
Visit us from 25 to 27 September at the international industry conference for natural refrigerants. Wieland-Werke AG is a Silver Sponsor of this European conference which will be attended by developers, industry representatives and regulators.
Under the brand partnership with ConexIBänninger, Wieland will be presenting its activities regarding the K65 tube system. In refrigeration, particularly in the field of supermarket refrigeration systems, ecologically oriented system concepts are increasingly being applied. The natural refrigerants used for this purpose require materials with high strength for tubes, connectors and heat exchangers. The K65 tube system is a core component for more environmentally friendly refrigeration systems.
The tube system is designed for high-pressure applications of up to 120 bar and characterised by ease of processing as well as excellent heat transfer.
The Wieland Group establishes a JV for the marketing of brass nets and more for aquaculture
For the development and marketing of brass nets and cages, Wieland-Werke AG has formed the “BlueSea Technology AS” joint venture with Lerow AS in Norway. The partner has the respective know-how as well as longstanding experience in the field of aquaculture. Daniel Steitz, Wieland-Werke AG (60% JV), is the CEO, and Svein Jarle Midtøy, Lerow AS (40% JV), the COO of BlueSea Technology AS.
Visit the CWIEME in Berlin from 20 to 22 June 2017. This trade fair is the meeting place for the transformer, electric motor and power generation industries all over Europe. At the CWIEME, Wieland will be presenting:
Copper rotors The very high performance requirements of the electric machine places maximum demands on the rotor. With the advantages of the Wieland rotor design we can meet these requirements in large quantities.
Connector ring Connecting your stator windings in the most compact space conditions – Together with you, we develop customised solutions for connecting your electric machines. We manufacture connector rings from the prototype through to series production.
Shunts With our precision resistors it is possible to realise extremely accurate measurements within your electronic systems. The basis of these shunt resistors is electron beam welded copper- manganese strip.
