The Wieland Group joins the German Pavilion of the 9th International Rechargeable Battery Expo in Tokyo
As a long-term partner of the automotive industry, the Wieland Group offers high-performance components made of copper and copper alloys and presents highly efficient solutions for eMobility at the 9th International Rechargeable Battery Expo (Battery Japan) at the Tokyo Big Sight from 28 February to 2 March 2018.
The individual system components for electric motors include reliable substance-locking connections enabling highly efficient solutions for the electric machine, the powertrain and the battery. Moreover, bar-shaped copper rotors in induction machines, precision shunt resistors in battery management systems and special bimetals for connecting busbars in Li-ion batteries increase the performance of electrified and hybrid drive trains.
Through long-term contracts with metal producers and traders operating on a global scale, the Wieland Group ensures a reliable metal supply to its customers.
The current development of the metal markets requires an adjustment of the metal premiums.
For deliveries made from 1 January 2018, the metal premiums will change as follows:
Copper: + 6 US dollars per ton
Zinc: + 10 US dollars per ton
Tin: + 25 US dollars per ton
Nickel: + 170 US dollars per ton
Lead: + 30 US dollars per ton
Aluminium: + 30 US dollars per ton

Wieland Group growing in Asia
The Wieland Group invests > 3 million EUR to expand the production capacity of contour-milled (multi-gauge) strip in Asia, Singapore. As part of its global growth and internationalisation strategy, the Wieland Group is further expanding its operations in Singapore to better serve the Asian market with premium copper products and innovative customer solutions.
Wieland is a global supplier of outstanding solutions in the semi-finished products industry, coupled with superior customer service. The company will be exhibiting at this year's Elmia Subcontractor trade fair from 14 – 17 November in Jönköping, Sweden. The focus is on solutions for drinking-water applications, in particular copper materials for components such as fittings and valves as well as on fittings including lead-free machining brass. Further highlights from Wieland can also be seen, such as finned tubes and high-performance tubes for the cooling industry.
Travelling to the origins of the universe with copper
Under the motto “Collaborations for Your Excellence“ the Wieland Group as one of 37 companies will be presenting its innovative product and service portfolio at CERN in Meyrin, Switzerland, on 10 and 11 October 2017. The industrial fair is organised by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research together with CERN to strengthen existing collaborations and to make new partnerships possible.
The European Organisation for Nuclear Research tries to unravel the mysteries of the universe, for example with the CERN particle accelerator. By reconstructing the situation right after the Big Bang, scientists are researching the building blocks of matter and natural forces. For the superconductors at the core of this powerful machine, the Wieland Group uses copper-based high-tech fibres. In addition, components such as rods, sections and tubes, mainly of pure copper, are used in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world’s largest experimental facility built in a 27 km long tunnel between France and Switzerland at CERN.
As a global technology company, Wieland supports basic research in physics with its know-how in key technologies such as material science as well as forming and joining technology.
