For the Wicoatec coating technology, the Wieland Group receives EUR 350,000 from the Federal Environment Ministry (BMUB) for the implementation of an innovative coating concept under the Environmental Innovation Program.
The newly interpreted process, which is based on a CVD (chemical vapor deposition) process, reduces the amount of process chemicals required and significantly reduces energy consumption.
The Wieland Group also regards this project funding as recognition of its long-standing efforts to invest in innovative technologies and increase energy efficiency.

The LEW (Lech Werke AG - Electricity Company) Innovation Award Intelligent Energy, which is endowed with a total of 45,000 euros, honours ideas and measures that set an example for forward-looking projects in climate protection and the efficient use of energy. In selecting the best projects, a high-ranking jury assessed the degree of innovation, the contribution to climate protection and energy efficiency, the economic viability and the transferability of the projects.

Investment in new slitting line
With an investment of EUR 6.5 million in a new slitting line at the Langenberg site (Germany), Wieland is expanding its finishing capacity and addressing the increasing demand for thin gauge strip of high-performance alloys and tinned materials.
With this investment, in close alignment with its customers growth plans, Wieland is further strengthening its position as a global service leader for thin gauge copper alloy strip in the automotive and electronics industry.
The Wieland Group joins the German Pavilion of the 9th International Rechargeable Battery Expo in Tokyo
As a long-term partner of the automotive industry, the Wieland Group offers high-performance components made of copper and copper alloys and presents highly efficient solutions for eMobility at the 9th International Rechargeable Battery Expo (Battery Japan) at the Tokyo Big Sight from 28 February to 2 March 2018.
The individual system components for electric motors include reliable substance-locking connections enabling highly efficient solutions for the electric machine, the powertrain and the battery. Moreover, bar-shaped copper rotors in induction machines, precision shunt resistors in battery management systems and special bimetals for connecting busbars in Li-ion batteries increase the performance of electrified and hybrid drive trains.
