The spread of nosocomial bacteria is on the increase and this is becoming a real threat not just to hospital patients. In particular the spread of multiresistant bacteria such as MRSA is making successful treatment difficult. In addition to the health risks, the resulting care costs and expenditure are enormous.

The risk of infection often emanates from highly frequented contact areas touched by different persons many times a day. Such surfaces are consequently an ideal transmission medium for infections.

CUTOUCH® materials are ideal copper-base alloys for all frequently touched surfaces such as door handles, handrails, beds, trolleys, fittings and other support surfaces, as they are bactericidal, virucidal and fungicidal at any time and in any place.

In addition, CUTOUCH® materials have been optimised in terms of tarnishing as well as compatibility with common detergents and disinfectants.

Numerous laboratory and field tests carried out worldwide have shown that antimicrobial alloys of the CUTOUCH® family are able to significantly reduce bacterial counts on contact areas such as door handles and grab rails. In combination with established hygiene measures, antimicrobial copper consequently helps to prevent infections spreading.
