Performance enhancement of car engines results in increasing torques being transmitted by the gear. Due to the transmission of these higher torques deformation may occur in the gearbox and other parts. The slide bearings used up to now for the bearing of main gear shafts do not have the mechanical strength to meet the increased requirements. As a result, modifications in the design have become necessary.
A solution to this problem is wrapped bushings made of Wieland-S31 (PDF, 29 KB) or machined bushings made of Wieland-S40 (PDF, 29 KB) (e.g. tractor gears).
