Shell and Tube Condensers – Heat Rejection up to 12 MW
Wieland shell and tube condensers are designed for industrial and process refrigeration applications requiring reliable heat rejection, high efficiency and flexible system configuration. The range covers 50 kW up to 12 MW and includes compact as well as high-capacity condenser solutions, with medium- and high-efficiency designs also available for marine applications.
With internally and externally finned heat transfer tubes, removable headers and flexible shell-side configurations, the condensers support efficient heat transfer and service-friendly cleaning over time. Depending on the application, configurations range from cost-optimized single-pass counter-current solutions to highly efficient designs with 2 or 4 water passages, with optional partial or total heat recovery integrated in the same shell.
- Heat rejection from 50 kW up to 12 MW
- Temperature approach as low as 0.5 K
- Partial or total heat recovery possible
- Medium- and high-efficiency configurations
- Service-friendly tube bundle cleaning
- Marine construction available
Product Variants
Standard condensers are designed with refrigerant inlet and outlet in central position. A refrigerant gas distributor supports high efficiency of the heat transfer tubes.
Counter-current condensers are designed with refrigerant inlet and outlet at the extreme edges and in counter-current with the water flow. This configuration is used to take full advantage of the temperature profile.
Dual refrigerant circuits condensers are designed with two independent refrigerant circuits. This allows the condenser to follow heat rejection demand and increase system reliability. In case of failure of one circuit, the working circuit can continue partial operation until the failed circuit is restored.
The CB.RV reversible condenser family combines heat transfer efficiency in condensation with the possibility to use the same heat exchanger for defrosting cycles. This is achieved through shell-side evaporation with inversion of the refrigerant cycle. This configuration can be applied to different sizes of the standard condenser models after verification by the Technical Department.
Desuperheaters are similar in construction to condensers and are suitable for heat recovery. Low pressure drops on the refrigerant side allow the use of sensitive heat without compromising efficiency.
Compact condensers are designed for reduced spaces and modular system layouts. They are also suitable for naval installations without roll and pitching problems. The hinged header allows tube bundle cleaning on the water side without disassembling the water system.
