Choosing the Right High-Performance Alloy
High-performance copper alloys are built on precipitation hardening using elements such as Nickel, Chromium, Silicon, Cobalt and Zirconium combined with a sophisticated process routing. This results in superior mechanical and electrical properties even at elevated temperature. The result is a material family that keeps a connector’s spring force high over long periods in service (relaxation resistance), the defining requirement for contacts in various industries, such as automotive, industrial and computing. We split the family into High-Strength types (K55 CuNi3SiMg, K57 CuNiCo1Si, K73 CuNi1ZnSi, K76 CuNi1SiP, K78 CuNi2Co1Si) and High-Conductivity types (K75 CuCrSiTi, K82 CuZr, K88 CuCrAgFeTiSi).
Not sure which grade fits your process? Wieland’s Alloy Wizard helps narrow down the right high-performance alloy based on your application requirements.
