On May 24, Wieland welcomed a delegation from the US state of Kentucky at the company’s largest production facility for semi-finished copper and copper alloy products in Vöhringen. Torsten Grossmann, Plant Manager in Vöhringen, and other company executives accompanied the representatives of the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, Jeff Noel, Kristina Slattery, Finn Weisse and Victor Ehrnrooth, on a tour of the plant. Following the tour,  Dr. Erwin Mayr, CEO of Wieland, gave insight into the successful growth path of the company.

"Our presence in the state of Kentucky is of great importance to us and we are very pleased to further expand our footprint there. In addition to our Louisville site, we are building our new recycling and refining center in Shelbyville. This will play an important role for us as we further advance our efforts in sustainability, carbon neutrality and the development towards a circular economy in North America," explained Dr. Erwin Mayr. "We thank Governor Andy Beshear and his administration for the continuous support of our construction project in Shelbyville as well as our progress throughout the state and look forward to further collaboration in the future."

Jeff Noel, Secretary of the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, also emphasized the importance of the collaboration: "Wieland is a strong partner in developing the American industry, supporting jobs in Kentucky and advancing sustainability through recycling. In Vöhringen, we were able to get a first glimpse of the circular economy within the production of copper products, and we look forward to seeing this progress at the new recycling center in Shelbyville. The opening of the new center is scheduled for later this year and will help our state take a big step toward our sustainability and carbon neutrality goals."
