Wieland joins the United Nations Global Compact

  • Partnership for responsible corporate governance
  • Wieland is committed to the ten UNGC principles

Wieland has joined the world's largest and most important initiative for responsible corporate governance: the United Nations Global Compact. This means that the company is committed to the ten sustainable principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and corruption prevention, as well as the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, which aim to establish an inclusive and sustainable economy.

"By joining the United Nations Global Compact, we are systematically continuing our strategic corporate focus on greater sustainability and underlining the fact that we take responsible action seriously," says Dr. Erwin Mayr, CEO of the Wieland Group. "We are proud to be part of this renowned alliance and to make an active contribution to a sustainable economy."

Previous to joining the initiative, Wieland had already adopted ambitious environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals as part of its sustainability strategy and aligned them with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to fair working conditions, the company aims to be carbon-neutral by 2045 by reducing greenhouse gases and thus to make economic activity compatible with environmental protection.

This will bring economic activity in line with ecology and fair working conditions.

In future, Wieland will report annually and transparently to UN Global Compact on its progress.
